About Jia Juanli
Regarded in Asia as an eminent artist of her generation, Jia Juanli studied painting in China, her home country, first at the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, graduated in 1986, then at the Peking Academy of Fine Arts where she studied oil painting and graduated with honors in1991.
In 1996, at the invitation of the French government, she was granted residence at the Aix-en-Provence School of Fine Arts, before moving to Paris in 1998. She now splits her time as a painter and a teacher between her Beijing and Guiyang studios, and Paris, the City of Lights.
Jia Juanli’s works are regularly exhibited in major art events and prestigious international galleries – in Asia, U.K. and Europe, and the United States. Her paintings appear in public and private collections around the world.
Carried by a remarkably sensitive palette, Jia Juanli captures not only the dream scenes of an ancient China, the last vestiges of which are gradually disappearing, but also its imaginary gardens where the imprint of a vanished world lingers.
